Regulatory Consulting capability expanded with Mark Penton hire
Lansons Communications is strengthening its regulatory consulting practice with the appointment of board director Mark Penton.
Mark joins from Sesame Bankhall Group where he led the change programme in response to the FSA’s Retail Distribution Review. He has over 20 years experience of working with regulators, trade bodies and regulated firms including 16 years at Norwich Union. Whilst at the NU he was seconded to the ABI where he successfully project managed the industry’s response to supporting IFAs with the Pensions and FSAVC Reviews, becoming Chief Executive of PASS Limited.
His appointment comes four months after former Beachcroft Regulatory Consulting Richard Hobbs joined Lansons to expand its Public Affairs and Regulatory Consulting capability. Mark worked with Richard at Beachcroft and will work alongside him and Lansons Head of Public Affairs, Ben Abbots, to offer regulatory and public affairs consultancy across Lansons’ 70+ financial services clients.
Commenting on the move Lansons Chief Executive Tony Langham said: “This appointment reinforces our commitment to building a Regulatory Consulting practice at Lansons, following the flying start that Richard has made and the significant amount of business currently available in this area. The financial services sector is going through a time of significant change and Regulatory Consulting is a burgeoning area. We believe our team has unrivalled experience and contacts within a regulatory and political context, able to deliver what our clients need and want.”
Mark Penton added: “This is an exciting time to be joining Lansons Communications, regulatory and Public Affairs work has never been more important for clients across a whole range of disciplines and I am looking forward to hitting the ground running. We will see this area expand rapidly over the next months and years and I believe Lansons has an excellent proposition to offer to existing and new clients.”
Lansons is structured into four virtual practices: Corporate, Brand & Consumer, Financial Services and Lansons Live. Public Affairs and Regulatory Consulting forms part of the Corporate Practice.
